Catalpa Boys is the combined sounds of two brothers from Lebanon, Ohio – JD and JK Housh, and the music decidedly feels like a family affair. Soft vocals and harmonies, with instrumentation to match…it would be tough to dislike or be offended by any of these songs. Yet equally, it’s not the sort of thing that really sticks with you either; there are many better examples of this mellow-country-folk music, particularly the new Iron & Wine disc or most any Palace release. Still, not a bad listen if you come across it, I just wouldn’t go out of my way to hunt it down.
